Benefits of Choosing a Dental Office with Insurance Options

Many clinics accept basic benefits, but at Expo City Dental, we proudly go beyond by offering direct billing options and acceptance of specialty plans that many dental offices do not. Whether you’re covered under WSIB, NIHB (Non‑Insured Health Benefits), IFHP (Interim Federal Health Program), CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan) or a major private carrier, our team is ready to streamline your experience and minimize your out‑of‑pocket costs.

  • Reduced Stress: You won’t leave your appointment wondering if you’ll receive a reimbursement cheque weeks later. When we lead the claims process, you can focus on your smile.
  • Transparent Treatment Planning: Our team reviews your coverage, explains what is eligible, and outlines any costs you may owe ahead of time. When possible, we can even submit pre-determinations to your insurance to help guide your treatment according to your coverage.
  • Broader Access to Care: With WSIB, NIHB, IFHP, CDCP and major insurers onboarded, more people can receive care without financial barriers, because dental care is health care.

Specialty Insurance Programs We Accept

When you choose Expo City Dental, you can focus on recovery, not paperwork. At Expo City Dental, we believe in accessibility and fairness in oral healthcare coverage.

WSIB (Workplace Safety & Insurance Board)

If your dental needs are due to a work‑related injury or work-related accident, our team handles WSIB claims from start to finish. Our office is fully versed in the WSIB dental entitlement guidelines, and we’ll help you with the forms and direct billing process.

If you’ve been injured at work, you may be eligible for dental treatment covered by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). WSIB coverage ensures that employees receive the care they need to recover from workplace-related injuries, including those involving the mouth, teeth, or jaw.

What Does WSIB Dental Coverage Include?

WSIB covers dental treatment that is directly related to a workplace injury, such as:

  • Broken or chipped teeth caused by an accident at work
  • Jaw fractures or dislocations
  • Soft tissue injuries to the lips, gums, or oral cavity
  • Follow-up treatments required to restore function or appearance
  • All necessary and approved dental care is billed directly to WSIB, so there are no out-of-pocket costs for the injured worker.

How to Access WSIB Dental Treatment

  1. Report your injury to your employer and file a claim with WSIB.
  2. Visit a WSIB-registered dental clinic: your dentist will complete the required forms and submit treatment plans directly to WSIB.
  3. Provide your claim number at each visit to ensure proper coverage and communication with WSIB.

Why Choose a WSIB-Approved Dental Clinic

A WSIB-authorized clinic understands the specific documentation, approval process, and follow-up care requirements. This ensures your treatment is not delayed and that all reports are accurately submitted to support your recovery.

NIHB (Non‑Insured Health Benefits)

As an authorized provider under the federal program, we honor the NIHB plan for eligible First Nations and Inuit patients.Clients of the NIHB program can receive eligible dental care without upfront payment and without the provider charging balances at service.

NIHB Dental Coverage

The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program provides comprehensive dental coverage for eligible First Nations and Inuit clients across Canada. This federal program, administered by Indigenous Services Canada, helps ensure access to quality oral health care without financial barriers.

What’s Covered

The NIHB program covers a wide range of preventive, diagnostic, restorative, and emergency dental services, including:

  • Dental examinations, cleanings, and X-rays
  • Fillings, extractions, and root canals
  • Crowns, bridges, and dentures (based on prior approval)
  • Periodontal (gum) treatments
  • Emergency dental care for pain, infection, or trauma
  • Some complex procedures may require predetermination — meaning the dentist must submit a treatment plan to NIHB for review and approval before treatment begins.

How Billing Works

All eligible dental services are billed directly to NIHB through Express Scripts Canada. This means clients do not need to pay out of pocket for approved treatments. If a service is not covered, our team will review all options and discuss any costs before proceeding.

What to Bring

When visiting the clinic, please bring your:

  • Status card or NIHB client identification number
  • Photo ID for verification

Our experienced administrative team will confirm your eligibility, submit required documentation, and handle communication with NIHB on your behalf to make the process smooth and stress-free.

IFHP (Interim Federal Health Program)

Refugees, asylum‑seekers, and certain others are covered under IFHP and can receive essential dental services at our dental office in Vaughan. We make the claims process as seamless as possible so you can get the care you need with more ease.

The Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) provides temporary dental coverage for refugees, refugee claimants, and certain protected persons in Canada who are not yet eligible for provincial health insurance.

Under IFHP, patients may receive coverage for essential and emergency dental care, including:

  • Examinations and X-rays related to pain or infection
  • Tooth extractions
  • Temporary fillings
  • Treatment of oral infections and injuries

All eligible services are billed directly to IFHP through Medavie Blue Cross, meaning patients do not need to pay upfront for approved treatments.

If you are covered under IFHP, please bring your IFHP eligibility document and photo ID to your appointment so our team can confirm your coverage and help you access the care you need.

CDCP Dental Coverage

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a new federal program designed to help make dental care more affordable for eligible Canadian residents who do not have private dental insurance. The program is administered by Health Canada in partnership with Sun Life and is being rolled out in phases.

Who Is Eligible?

The CDCP is available to Canadians who:

  • Do not have access to private dental insurance
  • Have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000 per year
  • Are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or recognized refugees
  • Have filed a tax return for the previous year

Those with a lower income may qualify for full coverage, while others may receive partial coverage based on a co-payment scale.

What’s Covered?

The CDCP covers a wide range of dental services, including:

  • Dental exams, cleanings, and X-rays
  • Fillings, extractions, and root canals
  • Preventive and restorative treatments
  • Emergency and specialty care (based on clinical need and program guidelines)
  • Coverage will expand over time as more services and age groups are added to the program.

How to Access CDCP Benefits

Once enrolled, patients will receive a welcome package and member card from Sun Life. Please bring this card and a valid photo ID to your appointment. Our clinic can verify your eligibility, explain your coverage details, and submit claims directly to Sun Life so you don’t have to pay upfront for eligible services.

Expo City Dental partners with some of the leading insurance carriers in Canada, including Manulife, Sun Life Financial, Canada Life, Green Shield, Empire Life, Medavie Blue Cross, and more.

We submit claims while you’re in the chair, minimizing or eliminating upfront cost, and simplifying your experience.

Hear From Our Patients

Maria Michelman
Maria Michelman says:

I was having some intense tooth pressure out of no where one day and I emailed Expo City. Immediate responses, they took me in right away as a new patient, they were super sweet and super informative, discussing cost options with me. I just had major surgery recently and I'm going through procedures still and the team was super on top of it. Very caring for my neck, asking if I was comfortable, very clear on potential next steps so they don't overlap with my medical procedures. Dr. Farzin worked with me today, he was super sweet, gentle and funny. The receptionist was incredible and very patient with me when my cards were malfunctioning at check out. Definitely come here for dental help, especially if you're fortunate to live in the buildings upstairs like me.

Fantastic Service. I had a tooth extraction a few weeks ago. The staff was so professional and very nice. The surgeon was really good. Everyone from the nurse to the assistant was professional and very nice. The surgeon even walked me to the car I was going to be driven in, because I was all drugged up from the anesthesia. 5 Stars!

Dr Faarzin was so awesome. I wanted to do close my gap tooth and after consulting with the team at expo he recommended I go to an actual orthodontist as my case was a bit complicated. And during my braces treatment I had to extract couple tooth of course I went back to expo and it was a pleasant experience. He cracked jokes which took my mind away from the pain & helped called my nerves. Highly recommend
